OVERVIEW
EVERGREEN - MINI DWARF LEAF - SLOW GROWTH RATE
ST-91
‘The princess of soft leaf buffalo’. ‘The ultimate buffalo
to complete your masterpiece’. ST-91 bares an elegant dwarf
leaf with a soft velvet appearance. It maintains a true royal
green colour, even through the coldest of winters. ST-91‘s
extreme prostrate growth and densely woven runners form an
exquisite growing carpet, that will transform your garden
and make your neighbours envious. It is ideal for the casual
gardener, as it is extremely slow growing and requires very
little attention. It’s an easy mowing lawn, which does not
thatch like other varieties and it is a non-invasive lawn.
ST-91 AUSDWARF is a dwarf buffalo grass that has a very fine
texture and is soft underfoot. A slight bluish tinge enhances
its rich green colour, which is maintained throughout the
year. No red or purple appearance is evident in winter. Quite
shade tolerant, ST-91 is renowned for being the slowest growing
buffalo turf available, so needs less frequent mowing. The
members of the ST Growers Group are licenced by H & T Whiting
Turfgrass Development to grow and sell the ST-Family of Lawns
bred by them in Perth for Australian Conditions. ST-26, ST-85
and ST-91 soft leaf buffalo grasses have been bred for slow
growing - requiring less mowing, watering and fertiliser.
They have excellent shade tolerance, winter dormancy resistance
and consistent deep green colour.
ST-91 MAINTENANCE TIPS
Mowing:
ST-91 AUSDWARF Buffalograss, due to its dwarf growth characteristics,
can be mown lower than the common coarse varieties of Buffalograss.
The recommended mowing height for AUSDWARF is 21/2 to 4 cm
(1 to 11/2 inches) using a rotary or cylinder mower with sharp,
correctly adjusted blades.

Watering:
It is recommended to water AUSDWARF Buffalograss with infrequent
deep watering. The objective in correct watering is to water
adequately and deeply enough being aware the root system may
be as deep as 0.5m (11/2 feet) or even 1 m (3 feet). Frequency
of watering may be less with ST -91, but will depend on the
seasons. In summer, more frequent watering will be required.
Frequent light watering is not recommended (unless in the
early stages of establishment) as this type of watering encourages
a shallow root system which makes the grass more susceptible
to drought, weed invasion, and disease.

Fertilization:
ST-91 is a very low nutrition turf grass requiring less fertilization.
Fertilize AUSDWARF in the autumn months and early spring with
a turf grade qualify fertilizer. No other fertilization is
recommended. Our research has demonstrated that over-fertilization
produces a soft lush turfgrass surface with excessive thatch
buildup making the grass tissue more susceptible to disease.
This excessive thatch buildup from overfertilization significantly
reduces turfgrass quality. Fertilizing in hot humid conditions
is to be avoided as this can also produce a soft grass leaf
tissue that is more susceptible to disease.
